8 Year Old Jet Ski Passenger Ejected in Collision with Other Jet Ski on River
On June 4, at approx. 4:00 PM in the Zaton area of the Kuban River, near the Park of the 30th Anniversary of Victory in Krasnodar two jetski operators were performing maneuvers. One jet ski was making a turn to bypass a vessel when a second jet ski collided with it. The impact caused the watercraft to lift and capsize, throwing the passengers into the water. An 8-year-old boy riding as a passenger on one of the jet skis was thrown multiple meters into the water upon impact. Emergency rescuers stationed nearby reacted immediately, pulling the child and other victims out of the water. Medical assistance was provided on-site before the boy was hospitalized with various bruises and injuries. The regional transport police and local law enforcement have launched an official investigation to determine the exact sequence of events, verify if the operators held valid licenses and assess technical compliance. The Transport Prosecutor's Office is reviewing the incident under safety violations regulations, specifically looking into services that may fail to meet official safety standards for water transit. |
