8 Killed, 5 from Same Family, After Bus Jumps Median Hitting a Bike and Flatbed
A Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus traveling from Coimbatore to Salem veered off its lane near Ariyaanur village on the National Highway and jumped the center median and crashed head-on into a mini-goods vehicle and a bike. The bus driver, A. (49), was arrested after initially fleeing the scene. Preliminary reports suggest the crash was caused by either a brake failure or the driver being distracted by a mobile phone. Five members of the same family in the mini-goods vehicle died and another passenger. ( The mom, dad and kids). A mom, 55 and her 21 year old son on the bike also died. |
