Six people, including two pregnant women, were killed in Spain Saturday after an out-of-control car slammed into spectators during a rally race.

Amateur video captured the moment the car hurtled off the track and plowed into a massive crowd of spectators during the Rally de la Coruna.

The dead included a young girl, believed to be about eight years old. One of the two pregnant women who died was just weeks away from her due date. The baby’s father was also one of the spectators killed.

Roughly 16 people were injured, some critically.

The crash took place in the town of Carral about 8 p.m. local time on the final stretch of the route.

Authorities said the car was traveling too fast.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy expressed his condolences on Twitter — saying the rally had been “tinged with mourning.”

“My heartfelt condolences for those killed. I wish the injured a full and speedy recovery,” he added.

The rally was immediately suspended following the crash. More than 130 cars were participating in the race.

Of course feel bad for kids and expectant mothers, but what they are doing is equivalent to standing next to the wall at a NASCAR race and hoping nobody wrecks into you. Morons in my opinion. If your going to get so close at least stand next to a tree so you can hide when one of these cars fly off the road.

Prime example why barriers should be installed for any rally event such as shown in the video. At the least expected moment something could go wrong whether it be mechanical or human error.

I feel for the those who lost loved ones due to the accident yet I cannot refrain from saying they were ignorant of the dangers from being so close to the race path.
