Sri Lanka, 5 PSD personnel including a WPC were killed and several others injured due to a multi-vehicle traffic collision involving two buses and a Land Rover Defender in Sri Lanka.
The five victims have been identified as officers attached to the Presidential Security Division (PSD), who were on their way to a funeral.
Meanwhile 5 persons have been admitted to the Gampaha Hospital following the crash which occurred in rainy conditions.
It has also been reported that several of wounded persons are in critical condition.
The incident occurred when the Defender attempted to overtake a bus while another bus drove from the opposite direction which resulted in all three vehicles colliding.
The two persons traveling in the Defender were killed on the spot while 3 others succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
UPDATE: The victims were a Sub-Inspector (50), a Police Constable (21), a female Police Constable, another constable and the driver (31).
A total of 10 persons had been traveling in the Defender at the time of the accident while all remaining 6 of them are still receiving treatment.
The drivers of the two private buses involved in the fatal accident, which killed five Presidential Security Division (PSD) officers and injured five others, were released on bail on Friday.
They were released on sureties of Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 50,000, respectively.
Ya thats what i was wondering, why would they even have to post Bail as the SUV was the one in the wrong, the buses were just doing their thing.
The system is corrupt as fuck, they probably blamed the bus drivers to save face. I'd hate to have been one of them when the coppers mates arrived on scene.
