320-pond black bear falls from tree after being tranquilized
Reno , Nevada Wildlife officials were called to the scene when the male bear was spotted in a tree. He was coaxed down and tranquilized, but then he quickly climbed another tree. Workers were afraid he would be hurt in a fall, so they piled boxes at the base of the tree. However, the drugs finally took effect and the bear came crashing to the ground. "When it was all said and done, he fell pretty good," said wildlife biologist Carl Lackey. The bear hit a "couple of big limbs on his way down. Broke his fall, missed our boxes, but hit soft dirt, so he's fine." The bear was examined, tagged and was expected to be taken to a remote area and released later on. The animal was not hurt by the fall. It was the sixth bear found in Reno this year. |

They tried, but he missed.... I drugged a bear in Reno..... Just to watch him fall. |
