Mexico. An explosion that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, September 6, 2025 in the downtown area of ​​the municipality of León left two people in serious condition and at least eight more with various injuries

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Juárez and Reforma streets, where an electrical transformer suddenly exploded.

One additional person was treated for a nervous breakdown. Among those transported in serious condition was a police officer, who received medical attention for burns to her face and arms.

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) cut power to the area as a preventative measure to reduce risks and carry out repairs to the transformer. Preliminary reports from the agency indicate that overheating of the circuit may have caused the explosion.
