I don't believe in any God. RIP to this young woman. Apparently she didn't even burn the Koran. These Islamists are insane and fucked up. Btw, let's not forget that the Christians used to be as barbarian as the actual crazy Muslims centuries ago. I will never understand why humans fight and kill each other in the name of God. Or Allah. Or whoever. This is sick. |

Yet I doubt if it will happen. We are over two centuries past the Enlightenment and into the era of what is usually called modern science. Yet religion shows no signs of disappearing. Freud and others seem to be right about a primal human need to believe in something transcendent with respect to their miserable world and their (frequently) sad lives therein, something by means of which they can "make sense" (whether or not it is actually sensible) of existence in terms of an ultimate value/being/reality toward which they strive and hope to find beyond the grave, whether this "reality" is conceived of as a place (heaven), a state of being (absorption by/into impersonal "being"), or in some other esoteric form. To a secularist this seems like an incurable disease. To a believer, like the last, best hope.

This was the woman who was falsely accused of tearing up their holy book, by some asshole near the Temple. The crowd gathered and as with all mobs there, they tore her to bits. Her mother was on TV couple of weeks ago, as was the teenage boy who threw a paving slab onto her head down by a riverbank, in another video. His mother was condemning her son for what he had done. I notice that the mob is made up mainly of men. I use that term in the loosest sense possible. Fucking animals.  :2gunsfiri ng_v1:
