Classic sucking chest wound..
If you ever seen someone shot in the chest.. this is probably a worse case scenario..

Mechanism of injury:
Traumatic penetration through ventral aspect of chest with a or several high velocity missiles (bullets).



Treatment:
1) control the bleeding
2) Seal both wounds (exit/entrance)
3) Ensure that the ventral seal has only 3 sides sealed to allow for drainage of blood.
4) Maintain airway
5) Treat for shock
6) Transport



The reason why he had so much blood coming from his mouth was because he had a hole or several holes in his lungs.. The lungs are very very vascular and constantly pump oxygenated/deoxygenated blood to vital organs and tissues. Those penetration wounds were traumatic that blood was forced out of from the lungs and out the mouth.

While the victim is gasping for air, he is also ingesting blood. When blood is ingested in the quantities that the victim was ingesting, he would be also nauseous and heaving up the ingested blood.

i would have dragged him away from the bikes, rolled him on his side with the injured lung on the bottom, ripped his shirt off and used a cellophane or two to seal the holes. something.

at least attempt to redeem being a random stranger. might have changed that kids life and he could have been a positive influence on others. instead a punch of people tapes a poor young man choke to death on his own blood
