A man and a woman were shot dead on Friday night (24) while drinking with friends at a convenience store at a gas station located besides a highway near Capanema, Paraná state, Brazil.

According to police, two armed men arrived at the location on a motorcycle and entered the back of the gas station. “They came from the side and approached the group directly. The shots were aimed at the couple, fired almost at point-blank range."

Joelson d.O.L., identified as one of the deceased, had a criminal record for drug trafficking. He was sitting down when he was shot in the head and died instantly, in the same position.

Mauricélia, the second victim, was shot in the arm and tried to seek refuge inside the convenience store. “She ran inside, but the suspects followed her and fired more shots. She died at the entrance of the establishment," described the police.

Two hours before her death, Mauricélia had posted a photo of her drinking beer, with a police vehicle in the background, with the caption "Just because today she can."
