Young Man Murdered For Using Term Referring to Rival Faction At Party
In the Narandiba neighbourhood of Salvador, Bahia state, Brazil, a 20-year-old man, Ian L.B.d.J., was caught on video attending a party. In the video, Ian used the phrase "cê sabe", associated with the Comando Vermelho (CV) faction based in Rio de Janeiro.

The video caught the attention of a rival faction operating in the neighbourhood. Ian was kidnapped, and two videos were shared showing him being tied up and threatened with a knife. In one video, the gang allows him to smoke the "last cigarette of his life". Ian was ultimately murdered in the woods.

The Bahia State Public Safety Department claimed that it was members of the Bonde do Maluco faction which killed Ian. The BDM supposedly released a "statement", denying their involvement and claiming they would never kill anyone for using the phrase of a rival gang - however, the Public Safety Department has denounced the statement as a fake.
