Re: Young Iraqi Beheaded - Clean Shot
My statement was more in the line that these guys have been beheading each other for centuries. I was not specifically speaking of Iraq. If you are stating that muslims haven't been killing each other before the United States went over there then you need to be reminded of the differences between Sunni and Shia muslims. Them guys been killing each other since the rift between the 2 sects. So if you are saying these guys haven't then it is you who need the history lesson.

Re: Young Iraqi Beheaded - Clean Shot
The western countries definitely have made the region even more unstable. But the underlying problems have been and will continue to be uneven distribution of wealth, population growth versus job creation and distribution of jobs available. I found a report from 2013 that has studied the economic trends of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region since 1950 and have uploaded it here.

Re: Young Iraqi Beheaded - Clean Shot
Fr33dom's incessant attempts to blame everything wrong with the middle east on the west aside, this report is pretty decent. The bottom line is that the arab world has been in decline for about 800 years, and any attempt to blame their problems solely on the west are painfully laughable. Unfortunately, the only other relatively mainstream viewpoint is to just blindly blame the problems on "religion", which is pretty much just as misguided. Religion, as usual, is a symptom as much (or more) than it is a cause, and the real problems have always been corruption. Islam, for all of its awful abilities to subjugate and repress, is still only moderately better at it than Christianity was for hundreds of years in Europe. The last half-century or so has only been another playing out of the same cycle that has occurred in all modern parts of the world, but those of European descent (especially Americans), have the hardest time remembering that we're only a few hundred years ahead of the Arab world at best. The major differences are that we're seeing all of this play out with the dynamics of globalization and modern technology. This means that things like the massive influx of oil money in the last 30-40 years, the political and military influence of nations across the globe, and access to modern technology and weapons have drastically affected how things play out. P.S. Good video, thanks for the post. P.P.S. did I mention LOL @ fr33dom already? Okay, cool. |

Re: Young Iraqi Beheaded - Clean Shot
P.P.S. now that we've reached and passed the "graphic H.D. beheading" milestone, how long before videos start popping up that allow us to definitively draw conclusions about how long a head stays awake after a beheading? You'd think once in awhile one of these guys would get curious and try to find out, you know?
