Re: ~Young Guy Shoots Himself~
I went to a country close to but not Yemen. It was in war then and still is to this day. It was very sad and it's not only the constant combat either. The food/water quality is not good, there was garbage piled up along the sidewalks that smelled bad (which attracted a lot of VERY annoying flies), sometimes, there was no water available to wash dishes with so some restaurants would re-use dish water. And mind you, they would often use laundry detergent for washing dishes. I almost got really sick from eating food in plates "cleaned" like this. The children looked a lot older than their age and I would attribute it not only to stress, but also malnutrition and again, again using laundry detergent to bathe in. I saw with my own eyes children washing their faces with powdered detergent. That is much too harsh for their sensitive skin and I wanted to cry when I witnessed that. I couldn't wait to leave that miserable place and my heart aches for them all the time. |
