About a month ago...I was driving home and was traveling through a green light (luckily had just started to accelerate a few seconds prior) prob. going 30 km. when I heard honking and my boyfriend says 'hey!' and I look and there is this stupid kid riding his bike through the green light. I hit him, he flew from the hood of the truck, still on his bike because he was plowing so fast trying to get through the light that he was gripped tight to his handle bars. I was freaked! I was questioning myself if the light was green (but it was). He instantly shot back up and was like "I am so sorry ma'am so sorry it was my fault". (my bf thinks they were high, there was another kid in front of him that made it before the light changed) Anyway, I pulled over to make sure he was ok and I had 3 car loads of witnesses stop to let me know I did not have a chance in hell and that they too almost hit him. His arm was skinned up and he was shaken (as was I) One of the pedestrians let me know that there was some substantial damage to the hood of the truck and we look and sure enough his damn handle bar popped right through the hood and there was rather large dent and the bumper was bent in. So i ask the kid for ID he has none, so I called his Dad and he came to get him than we call the cops and blah, blah...Any way the cops send me home because they were too busy to deal with me (gay!) I talked to the police officer only twice on the phone that night and not until 3 weeks later did they call me back...The kid is a minor therefore it's a civil case if I want the truck fixed. The kid will be charged and we have to foot the bill to get the bf's truck fixed (bullshit!) We don't want the kid charged we just want our damage fixed.... Anyway, the point of this story is that yes, it is a nightmare to hit a human being with your vehicle. Fortunately for me the kid walked away from it. |

this is funny...as we are sitting on the curb waiting for his Dad I get the kid a sweater from the car and a water and I am still tryign to make sure he has no other injuries and he says to me, lol..."well, yah no it's kinda like I was hit by a truck" (lol what a little smart ass) I told his dad that he still had a sense of humour when he arrived.
