It seemed pretty dumb of the barber to do what he did. He wasn't even in any advantageous position to do anything.

foot twitching after his shoe came off. Doubt this was an extortionist but probably just a random robber. Maybe the extortionist gang now tries to hunt down and kill that robber for loss of income. Looks like he went for grabbing the gun and missed and half tripped grabbing that guys neck and shoulder and the rest is history.
