Why would he even think it was safe to be where he was? These machine's should have automatic safety shutoff's for people like this.

Not exactly sure if he died. Video cuts off too soon and the angle doesn't show if he is crushed against the cable or not. May have lost a hand though. Looks like the cable that runs across his body is also loose from the other end...so it probably didn't cut him in half.
