Re: Worker Killed While Welding on Transformer
Wow. You can see the explosion toss him clear of the whole transformer. That’s wild

Re: Worker Killed While Welding on Transformer
~ To think, that it was someone else's job to make sure all the combustible gas was removed before he performed 'his' job. ~ His only 'irregularity' was not knowing if it was done, or not. ~ Why are high-voltage transformers filled with oil? Its functions are to insulate, suppress corona discharge and arcing, and to serve as a coolant. ~ There are two main types of transformer oil in use today: Paraffin-based transformer oil and naphtha-based transformer oil. ~ Three basic types of transformer oil used are, mineral oil (mostly naphthenic), silicone, and bio-based. Mineral oil based transformer oils dominate the consumption as it has good electrical and cooling properties, and provides cost-effective solution. ~ Transformer oil is a mineral based oil that is commonly used in transformers for its chemical properties and dielectric strength. This oil in the transformer acts as an insulator and a cooling agent. Over time, the oil will degrade resulting in the potential for faults and costly repairs, especially of lives. |

Maybe I’ve become desensitized to the plethora of work place accident videos originating from Asia, but there’s something oddly satisfying about seeing a soulless insectoid get launched into orbit like that |

His safety helmet exiting stage left was the most harrowing part for me. What with this transformer knocked out and the container ships piling up near LA, there is going to be a shortage of CHRISTMAS SHIT this year!

God damn! That was a hell-of-a blast! That's a great find by the way... Industrial accidents are hard-core...always...
