In the USA metal stamping presses are required to have safety shut off devices such as "light curtains" that stop the machine if an operators hand or arm enters the press. if someone needs to stick their hand in the press they put in a safety stop, I've seen a short length of large steel I-beam used. The joke used to be the metal press workers would hold their beers with their thumb and pinky, the other fingers cut off in press accidents. Just my .02 |
