Re: Work Accident, Head Crushed by Hydraulic Press
The machine opened because the coworker pressed the button to release it! I thought it was interesting that the machine alarm activated even though no one had done anything at that point. China doesn't believe in "safety guards" for machinery... They will just hire the next guy. And the next, and the next, and next and next.... They have plenty of people! |

Re: Work Accident, Head Crushed by Hydraulic Press
Machine was just resetting to its null position. He was just dumb and got the destiny he was looking for. He clearly knew that the guard open wouldn't have stop the machinery, so no big surprise for him. Alarm went off simply cause the press didn't lock on his null position cause something (crushed skull and brain matter?) was preventing it to lock in place. So it was even pretty much advanced to be a chinese piece of crap. |

Re: Work Accident, Head Crushed by Hydraulic Press
And it's shit like that that makes me afraid of heavy machinery. That, and I'm clumsy and forgetful. Scariest piece of machinery I ever had to operate was a deli meat cutter when I was in college, and I didn't like that much, either. Big rotating blade, easy to lose a fingertip if you aren't careful. |
