The dog was the only smart one in this encounter.

So the woman/mum's new gf got all heated up and took a gun from her bag she retrieved from the house. He starts firing when he sees the gun, out of self defense. she returns firing multiple times. He wants to split the scene in his car but doesn't see her tossing the gun away because a car is blocking his sight. He dashes to his car thinking she still has the gun and will befiring again so he starts shooting again.

In tense situations like this one there's no time to actually check first if she still has the gun or not. On the other hand he could have run away into another direction evading another confrontation.

A gofund page for him came up with 0 dollars.

She started the whole ordeal and now she's dead and he's facing homicide related charges. The mum should have called the cops during the argument but the new gf wanted to act all tough.
