Be that as it may assuming a two tonne projectile likely with an imbecile behind the wheel will obey the road rules when you are on a bike is howling for trouble.

And that’s why I personally don’t have a bike. But I wouldn’t say that the cyclist has full responsibility to make sure nobody is coming, especially if they have the right of way. But since we don’t know the details of the intersection at the time of the accident we cannot debate further unless we are doing so hypothetically, which really has nothing to do with this specific accident. |

Most people I see run red lights in front of me do not apply the brakes before they do so, instead they speed up. We don’t know what the signage was, we don’t know who had the right of way. I’m just pointing out that either one of them could’ve been in the wrong. Neither one of them appear to have applied their brakes before the impact. |
