2 weeks ago, my brother who got clean after battling addiction for 20 years overdosed because his tolerance was so low.

It might sound weird to say that somebody that got clean overdosed, but the issue is that he had sciatica like our mom, and after going to the hospital, they refused to prescribe him painkillers (they gave him local anesthesia which is only a few hours of relief) because he was a marked drug addict (was going to methadone clinics to get clean)

In constant pain from the sciatica, and doctors refusing to help him because of his past, he had to resort to the one method he knew how, and was to get fentanyl from dealers around the city.

We’re waiting on the toxicology report, but the police think that the dealer laced the fentanyl with other shit, and it just compounded with the fact that my brother’s tolerance was so low now that he was clean.

In my brother’s case, he almost escaped the life of addiction, but just as you said, life’s fragile.

Even though my brother was broke, in his final week he spent his free time doing odd jobs for a motel and donating spare money to a children’s hospital.
