I'm rather impressed the pole survived that. When poles get hit here, they usually snap off at ground level. Was the pole reinforced? Or perhaps the poles here are weakened at the base on purpose? I don't know.

In some countries the poles are designed to crumple in a major impact to try and take some force out of the crash. Not this one!
