Sign of the times...cellphones out and filming a desperate woman's last moments. The murmurings of "oh ma gawd" by the second cameraman as he focuses on her are so false. If you care so much why are you filming it?

But then we wouldn't have the great content that we have on this site

Genuine question - why didn't they inflate a safety cushion underneath or use one of those nets? Do they ever do that any more?

I witnessed a jumper off the Sherry Netherland hotel on 5th
I was sitting in a yellow cab directly in front of where he landed
The impact was so loud I glanced over my shoulder out the window and caught in my eye what looked a like a raggedy splayed doll on the bounce back up to one storey then I watched it fall to the pavement narrowly missing pedestrians. The body just collapsed in a heap and there was very little blood
I was so shocked I got out of the cab and wandered about in a daze

Turned out the victim was a depressed Yale university student who jumped off the top floor
