No, you can't. You cannot comprehend it because you are not laboring under a crippling depression that makes you earnestly believe the entire world, including your children, will be better off without you. It's a mental illness. A devastating and potentially deadly one. And it has afflicted our species since the advent of recorded history. The idea that your future is so incomprehensibly bleak and hopeless that your own life and its impact on others has no value IS inconceivable to you. As it is to most of us who do not suffer from the condition. When I get 'depressed', I drink some whiskey and listen to Blues records. If it gets bad, I irritate my wife with constant muttering about the futility of life. I feel blue, sometimes for days. I lose my appetite. That's about the extent of it, though. That's how this shit affects MOST of us. But some people get hit with it in a much different fashion. A much deadlier one. You can't comprehend it because you've never -felt- it. Be glad for that. And try to show a little empathy. Especially for a female in a country with poor mental health care mechanics. |

Robin Williams put it that when you are at that whiskey drinking moment....someone with clinical depression....that is as GOOD as it gets....the best of the best days....are that...and you got to think how many best of the best days does one have?....not many at all.....maybe a handful in a year if you are extremely lucky.
