Hit the brakes when started to lose control? Ride it out into the ditch and just let it happen, over correct and your in oncoming traffic. Yup after watching twice it was the attempt at correcting that killed them imho.

Low time driver. Clearly she was driving too fast for conditions. In the California Sierra Mountains, black ice is everywhere in the winter. Warm sun melts some snow and wets the road, and then temp drops below freezing after dark, and the water becomes black ice. Impossible to spot in time to slow down, and once the tires slide, the driver has zero control. The only way to deal with it is not drive at night when below about 35 F, or drive really really slow. You would think that a Russian driver would know all this, but she did not learn to drive as a teenager or until mid-20s, so lacked the experience. |
