Shock is likely. BUT ALSO: If someone can translate, they may have told her they were going to kill her just before she got "quiet". If you've read the KUBARK manual, you'll see that people react very differently to pain and threatened pain, than they do to threatened and impending death. Because she was obviously in pain and going into shock, if they told her they were then going to then kill her, the natural/typical reaction would be to brace/freeze and go silent. Keeping in mind at the basest level it is not flight/fight, it is FREEZE, then flight, then fight, and always in that order unless the individual has had military training. Um. Not that I know anything about this stuff.  |
