i agree with all of the above posters,save one,this young man seems to be one of those rare people who act rather than standing by,shame to say this but,it was also dumb,im sort of a reactionist,i will jump in to help when i see something "not right",but i also assess the situation as i go....yes i know it seems as though im braggin here,im not..its just me...its what made me a good fire fighter and also a winning race car driver.

my point to the above is,id have thought about the consequences of my actions in a split second and realized it was going to most likely kill or incapacitate me aswell. what good is a dead hero?...or more humbly..what good is a dead rescuer?..

totally agreed... I too am wired the same way.. Situational Awareness and good Scene Assessment is critical in any emergency situation. As you pointed out, what good is first responder that gets killed, absolutely nothing, but more liability. Just the fact that this guy had nothing, but himself.. More than likely he didn't even know the woman he was trying to save.. Even more bonus...  |
