"She has to be under there somewhere. Make sure you don't fuck up the equipment while digging her out."

Re: Woman Dies After Iron Structure Collapsed On Her
it just had to be the only woman standing around there. Salma Salauddin Pathan, 45, died when arriving at the Hospital. The incident took place late at night just after the conclusion of a local Dahi Handi festival celebration organized by the Vighnaharta Mitra Mandal. Salma and her husband had attended the event to watch the festivities. The Sangvi police have registered a case of accidental death report and a probe has been launched into possible negligence. Salma's own son was a volunteer and office-bearer for the local festival group organizing the setup. Out of concern for the future of the local neighborhood youth involved in the dismantling work, Salma's family officially declined to file a first information report or criminal complaint against the organizers. Their son, Rahim Pathan, was closely associated with the mandal, the family viewed all the neighborhood youth involved in the event as their own children. Desiring to protect the futures of these young neighborhood boys and avoid dragging them into a long, difficult criminal trial, While no immediate criminal charges were pressed due to the family's waiver, the police confirmed they are continuing an active inquiry into the physical setup. Investigators are probing the event's structural safety, checking whether the iron staging exceeded safe weight capacities, and looking into potential negligence during the decommissioning process. Dahi Handi is celebrated across various parts of India, particularly in Maharashtra, which mark the birth of Lord Krishna. A key tradition of the festival involves hanging clay pots, or handis, filled with milk, butter, curd, sweets and other offerings at considerable heights. Teams of participants form human pyramids to reach and break the pots, recreating the playful childhood exploits of Lord Krishna. As part of the celebrations, groups compete to break handis suspended at designated locations, turning the tradition into lively public events that draw large crowds. Guess Krishna, the God of protection, compassion, tenderness and love was asleep or not at home that day. |
