Woman Dies After Accidentally Falling from Window at 7th Floor of Hotel
Brazil. Renata R.N.S, 26, died in the early hours last Tuesday after accidentally falling from the 7th floor of the Rio Poty Hotel in São Luís, Maranhão when she leaned against a window that detached. Her boyfriend, Leonardo A.P.F, was taken to a police station to provide a statement but was released shortly thereafter. The Civil Police ruled out any involvement on his part and classified the incident as an accident. The couple had been in São Luís to attend a poker tournament, and both were heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident. The Maranhão Civil Police and forensic teams have launched a rigorous structural investigation into the hotel's distinctive, floor-level triangular window design. Investigators are analyzing why the aluminum frame so easily gave way under her weight. Renata, who was a mother of two children, has had her body transferred back to her hometown of Belém for final services. Her mother and close friends have publicly demanded justice and heavily criticized the hotel management over building maintenance and structural safety, pointing out that a lack of protective grids or proper reinforcement puts anyone, including children or the elderly at risk. |
