It looks like she was holding a phone in her left hand, which then went flying through the air after the truck hit her. She was most likely preoccupied with the phone.

Obviously the woman was oblivious, I don't know about careless. Alot of people don't understand how trailers work. But who does understand is truck drivers. If there were a poll on who do you think is careless here. My vote goes to the truck driver. The truck driver should have been on the brakes as soon as seeing the woman walking into his turning zone. And the truck driver would usually have an eye on that mirror as he's making the corner. Which should have given him a good view of the woman in his way. I'm not necessarily blaming the trucker. The woman walked into the roadway, maybe on purpose.  It just surprises me, almost suspicious, that the trucker didn't see what was about to happen in plenty of time to prevent it. But maybe he just saw her, thought he had plenty of room, and that she would stay back so his attention was on something else. Or he was road raging. |

I'm guessing you're correct. In America I would bet the truck driver would be cited and lose his license, or possibly even charged with a crime as well. Because when she's still in his windshield, walking towards the area he knows his trailer will soon be. Even if she stops right there, it's going to be cutting it close, too close to just grab a gear and keep on trucking.  |

As a truck driver for 46 years I was wondering where the mind of this truck driver was, his attention should have been on that woman, he never even looked in his fucking mirror, yes her mistake but I think this is one big mistake from the truck driver, could have been a small child on a bike.
