I'm guessing she was concentrating on the train on the other side which probably sounded the same. Plus in a tunnel. Just switched off.

She's watching the other train and waiting for it to pass. As soon as the last carriage passes she starts to cross. I think she was just daydreaming and didn't even think to look in that direction when she was focused on the other train. The noise of the first one would drown out the other amd I'm guessing she thought it was just that trains sound...till the last second
