India, a wild sloth bear attack claimed the lives of two siblings and left a third critically injured in the Narharpur forest range of the Kanker district in Chhattisgarh on August 5.

The tragedy was triggered a day prior on August 4, when the female sloth bear lost one of her cubs due to illness. Grieving and protective, the mother bear became exceptionally aggressive and stayed close to her dead cub's carcass near a local school and adjacent agricultural fields.

On the afternoon of August 5, Halal K.J and his sister Chamrin B, 40, were working in a nearby field when the bear suddenly ambushed them. They were accompanied by two young children, whom the siblings successfully managed to push to safety before being overpowered by the wild animal.

Hearing their desperate cries for help, their younger sister, K.B.J, rushed from a neighboring field to rescue them. However, the enraged animal overpowered her as well, inflicting severe injuries.

The bear stayed by the victims' bodies for hours, continuously clawing at them and charging at arriving forest department vehicles, which severely hindered initial rescue operations.

After the Forest Department team managed to tranquilize the animal, a crowd of furious and panicked villagers attacked the sedated bear with clubs and sticks, ultimately beating it to death

Watching the video at first I thought "Geez don't try and help them or anything?? </sarcasm>" But then, must confess that I also instantly thought "Nah I wouldn't f*cking try either..."

One of my first thoughts was that they were already dead AF so it didn't really matter. After that point, I didn't see much difference between that & a sky burial buffet. I'm guessing that those folks hadn't done a lot of charnel ground meditation on impermanence.

Those indian sloth bears are batshit crazy.. They will charge farmers and locals with no fucks given.. If you don't have an equalizer, you are going to have your face chewed off while you're alive

Getting killed by a bear is akin to being burned alive. Both slow and agonizing deaths. The bear doesn't give a flying flip where he starts eating into you, and it's usually the thighs. So the victim winds up pounding the earth screaming while he tears chunks out of their flesh. It can take a good 15 minutes to die from shock and blood loss, all the while you're being eaten alive.
