I wish we could get more info on that the property dispute actually was (though i struggle to see how killing a father a year after killing the son could be in any way justified it’s apparently plausible enough to some.)

I don't think he was trying to kill him, just scare the catheter out of him. Otherwise he would have used the business end of that implement of destruction. And it's a valid QUESTION - who is truly the bad guy here? All we see is what looks like a vicious killer brutally assaulting a helpless cripple. There's always a backstory. My sister the other day said something painfully corny and naive, though she's almost elderly: "You should always respect your elders". Fuck that shit. Some elders are/were mean, destroying bastards that deserve a good beating to death.
