Ummm.... it's called a Smith machine numb nuts. They've been around for years. This is a free weight bench press competition so obviously you're not going to use a Smith machine in a free weight competition. There are spotters there for a reason. It's their job to prevent this from happening, and as you can see, the one spotter wasn't doing his job at all, and the other guy was doing a mediocre job. The spotters should have their hands about an inch below the barbell at ALL times, otherwise, you might as well do it by yourself without spotters.
