Re: Weeping Guy Holding His Relative That Hanged Himself

I’m middle of the road on the topic of suicide. They say there’s two sides to every story, and I can see arguments on both sides. You always hear people say suicide is a selfish act because of the pain you leave with your loved ones when you’re gone. But what about the people suffering with mental illness? Are we not being selfish in wanting them to continue living in pain, just so we can have them here, in our lives? Antidepressants is like a high wire act. It sometimes takes patients and doctors years to find the right meds and dosage to work as they should because no two people are the same. One wrong step in either direction could be fatal. There’s a saying that goes something like “Suicide is not done be someone who’s weak, but someone who has had to be strong too long”. This isn’t the Water Cooler section where topics like this are discussed, but I wanted to ask this question using with this video as context. Hearing this man crying out like this is heartbreaking, and I wouldn’t want any of my loved ones to cry and be in that much pain bc of anything I had done, but if I knew of a loved one living in terrible pain, whether it be mental or physical, I wouldn’t want them to live in a never ending agony just so I could keep them here with me either.

It sucks to lose a loved one. There are many different uncontrollable variables (mental illness, relationships, trauma) that cause people to suicide.

No you can't. It just sounds like a pathetic whimper.

Re: Weeping Guy Holding His Relative That Hanged Himself

I would not commit suicide if I people close to me who were highly invested in helping me to make my life better. I do not have the ability or want to hurt anyone who loves me, to end my own contribution to the passing of time in a way that will interfere and become detrimental in my loved ones lives and their ability to cope.
