If you look, every other driver has his left wheels on the inside edge of the track. Tony is halfway up it and had just gunned it - his speeds are higher than those who went before or after. Stewart lived and breathed these cars since he was a little kid. He's a dirt track fanatic - hence him even finding a track the night before a big road track race (ETA: for those who aren't followers - today is Watkins Glen). Not only does he know how to handle the car but since drivers are always wandering around, he knows exactly what to look for and how to drive the farthest from an accident. This wasn't some rookie who grew up racing dragsters. |

I know I already weighed in here. But it was just announced that Tony Stewart will not race today in Sprint Cup. Also I am sick of hearing these radio sports commentators saying this was a terrible tragedy and Tony struck and killed Kevin Ward. This was Stupidity, not a Tragedy!! Kevin Ward decided to play in traffic from the top of the track. Go to the pit area and take it out, not on a track with cars wizzing by you!!!
