If that's a large chunk of cerebral cortex he's facing, this isn't just an everyday decapitation.

In most decapitations, the brain remains inside the cranial vault and isn't expelled. Instead, the entire skull separates from the body at the cervical spine.

Given that his face and scalp appear to be intact, the brain had to be expelled through the bottom. If that is the case, the base of the cranium is probably still attached to the body.

It's difficult to tell for certain because of the poor quality of the images and video. It does look like an ear may still be attached to the body in one of the pics.

Technically, I guess that only makes it a partial decapitation. What a relief!
