Re: USS Akron: 05/11/1932 (My Introduction To Reality From My Great Grandfather)
Because my great gramps was there and saw it happen When I was a kid he told me the story and what the two men who fell to their deaths looked like after they landed I thought he was pulling my leg about the entire thing Then in the early 90s when the Sci-Fi channel was running re-runs of the early 80s version of RBION there was an episode about the Hindenberg and all the conspiracy theories about how it happened The show went deeper then the Hindenberg and included all weird accidents that have happened with airships As soon as Jack Palance said USS Akron and Camp Kearney my mind raced back to the story my gramps told me and I sat there watching it all unfold just like he told me I always thought he was pulling my leg, so seeing real footage of the event was shocking to me, and by this time my great gramps had passed away so I couldnt ask him any questions about it Thats why this is more horrifying to me then it is to you And im having problems ripping the clip from DVD to my computer, but I will get that posted as soon as I can |

Re: USS Akron: 05/11/1932 (My Introduction To Reality From My Great Grandfather)
So this VHS to DVD to Computer is killing me Never had this problem before I have the clip of the higher camera angle shot from the mesa at Camp Kearney that Ripley's used in the show Instead of showing them hitting the ground, it shows the moment that they lose their grip (which IMO is more horrifying, like watching Jim "Bullet" Bailey lose his grip) |
