USA - Tampa Biker Sent Flying In Hit-and-run
The driver accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist in Tampa has turned herself in three days after the fatal hit-and-run crash, officers said. The Tampa Police Department said 28-year-old D.T.C. was arrested by detectives Friday afternoon. She was booked into the Orient Road Jail for leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving without a valid driver's license.

Sorry wrong info. Victim was a father, older dude allegedly. I doubt he could've been missed. - The visibility into the road he came from was poor due to a wall and a house - He's going against the direction of traffic (crossing road?) - Driver had max 2 seconds to react - He cycled towards the location the car would evade to - No lights on the bike. In the shade you can't see him at all. The speed (prob 30mph+) alone is enough to kill him. The lack of helmet won't have helped either, but is secondary. Doesn't excuse the driver running off of course. |

A woman was arrested Friday in connection with a hit-and-run on Tuesday that left a 57-year-old bicyclist dead, according to the Tampa Police Department. D.T.C., 28, turned herself in to police on charges of leaving the scene of a crash with death and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police. The hit-and-run happened in the 1900 block of East 21st Avenue, police said. D.L.D. was found in the roadway and eventually died. C. allegedly borrowed a 2023 blue Toyota Corolla on the night of the hit-and-run to go to the store, according to police. She reportedly called family members later in the evening and yelled that she had hit something. Family members contacted police after the video was released, and the vehicle involved was found in Plant City on Thursday, according to police. Police said C.’s driver’s license was suspended in June 2013 with two more suspensions in 2015. |
