(CNN)The FBI and federal prosecutors have opened a civil rights investigation into the deadly police shooting of D.M by an officer in Washington, DC, last month after the teen was found sleeping in an allegedly stolen vehicle.

The announcement came after US Park Police and Washington Metropolitan Police released body-worn camera videos Tuesday showing the fatal encounter on March 18.

"The loss of a life is always tragic but is especially heartbreaking when it involves a child," the US Attorney's Office in Washington said in a statement, calling the bodycam video "extremely upsetting."

Why not block his car in first? Why not drag him out the driver's door? Why not take the keys FIRST? The guy was sleeping. They could have easily done any of these things to prevent this fuck from fleeing, but instead they're like:

They always use the excuse that they don't shoot people in the arms or legs because it's so hard to hit them there and they can still pose a threat but dude was less than a fucking meter away and could've EASILY got him in the shoulder and disabled him. Shitty cop needs to be charged with manslaughter.

One reason they don’t shoot to maim the victim is so that person can’t sue the department. If he/she is dead they can’t. Pretty simple.

Without going into the merits if the shots were excessive or not, but according to the news the deceased had stolen that car moments before. In reality, he did commit a crime. He knew he was in the wrong and tried to get away with it. If he had complied in the first place, he probably wouldn't have been killed
