Re: USA - Cop Accidentally Kills Subject
While accidental, and therefore not a murder, which requires malice aforethought, this is pretty obviously negligent homicide and the officer should face that charge.

The "Cop Accidentally Kills Subject"? How can you say it was not an accidental/negligent misfire?

Re: USA - Cop Accidentally Kills Subject
I don’t feel like claiming it was an accident is necessarily fair at all - the guy clearly had a gun and would have been shot moments later regardless. Plus he was already attempting to flee with the gun in his hands. His gun was in a ziplock bag and was dropped by the curb between him and the car. If an attacker has a weapon and is heading or escaping into a more public area it is crucial they are stopped before they can cause more harm to the general public. The officers did what was needed to stop the threat, a well placed shot ended it. If this guy had gotten away and hurt someone else or carjacked them etc. everyone would be like WHY DIDNT THEY SHOOT HIM OMG. Just my two thoughts. |

Re: USA - Cop Accidentally Kills Subject
For what it's worth, I think this is one of the only thoughtful comments to be found in this discussion. I'm not sure what "hood culture" is, but gangster culture is dysfunctional and destructive. So is much of police culture as I understand it. They're both warped by decades of conflict. That said, the real problem here is that this particular cop fucked up and his negligence cost someone his life.
