Additionally, why is the citizen supposed to de-escalate the situation? Citizens aren't being payed to go around and de-escalate every situation they encounter. That is what police are payed for. They are supposed to keep people safe and help to calm situations down and make arrests if necessary. It seems like police are no longer trained to de-escalate but rather the complete opposite. Go in, look for a problem, and turn it in to a MUCH bigger problem than it originally was if anybody questions your authority or disrespects you in anyway. Although the police often don't think they should have to show respect to citizens. It's like they think it's a one way street. A police officer's job is not to dominate the public, it's to help EVERYONE coexist peacefully.

This is hella lame. You would expect the officer to have better judgment and call the police for back-up, but he opted to use deadly force on an unarmed civilian..
