Ukraine has a history of getting screwed by the West and Russia. They were obliterated by the Nazis in WW2 and starved to death in their millions in the 1930s by the communists. Yet again, the people of the Ukraine are being treated like disposable pawns by two superpowers interested only in their own political and financial gains. Nothing more than a few bodies in the foundation. Most of the Ukrainians I know, many of them Russophones, would rather have a good relationship with the West and Russian, but of course neither side wants this and seems intent in splitting the country in half. |
