A USA missionary couple and a Haitian man who led a religious group were shot and killed by criminal gang members in Haiti’s capital of Port-au-Prince after they were abducted while leaving a youth group activity held at a local church, a family member said Friday.

N.L., 21, her 23-year-old husband D., and J.M., a 20-year-old Haitian and local director of Missions in Haiti Inc., were ambushed by gunmen as they left a church in the community of Lizon.

According to D.’s sister, D. and his siblings grew up in Haiti, where their parents were full-time missionaries who ran an orphanage, school, and church. He went to the USA for bible college, and after marrying N., he took her to Haiti to continue their humanitarian work.

The sister said D. called them the night of the attack, telling the family that three vehicles carrying gang members stopped them as they crossed the street, hitting him in the head with the barrel of a gun. They forced him upstairs, stole their belongings and left him tied up. As people were helping untie him, another group of armed gunmen showed up.

An unidentified person got shot and the gunmen opened fire as D., his wife, and J. fled to the house where D.’s parents live (although they had returned to the USA.) The gang, however, shot up the house, and their bodies were set on fire.

I was hoping for a post about this I'm here. I'm sorry to sound calloused, but this was pure stupidity. When there's advisories everywhere to NOT TRAVEL TO HAITI, due to severe gang violence.. don't travel to Haiti. Gangs don't care about missionary work, they won't spare you.
