Re: Two Shark Attack Videos
First: It took her leg off? Did it? We'll have to take your word for it because you dont know how to use a camera. Trying to make me sick? I guess I can kind of see the beginning... Still - somebody else should film next time. Great music for the second one. I appreciated the attack analysis, too. |

Re: Two Shark Attack Videos
Footage was grainy. I have seen both of these videos before on tv. So it was not such a big deal to see them on here. Poor girl in the first video.. all I could think was "this is a scene straight out of a Jaws movie".

Re: Two Shark Attack Videos
The girl in the first video, the part they didn't show, lost her entire leg from the pelvis down, right out of the socket. She got bitten, and made it to the boat, but when they tried to pull her out, it was a serious tug-of-war between the guys in the boat and the shark, and the shark made off with her leg. You can hear her screams go from a scream to a shrill unbelieveable scream when her leg is coming off. She was in a shark attack documentary a few years after the incident that recreated shark attacks to first figure out the force, then the reason. It was a great show, and she had a lot to contribute, after living through that - she even narrated the video a little at one point and said she "felt the pop" of her femur come out of her pelvis. Fuckin Ouch. Medically speaking, they must have done a great job with her, because it is unbelievable that she lived through that. You can bleed to death in 4 minutes from a severed femoral artery, and her whole leg was ripped off.

Re: Two Shark Attack Videos
Wednesday, March 23, 1994, South Pacific Ocean: "I felt something grab my leg and jerk me," recalled Heather Boswell, a 19-year-old Seattleite who had signed on for a six-month term working in the galley of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research ship Discoverer. Boswell and several of her shipmates were taking a break, swimming in balmy waters some 300 miles east of Easter Island. What she believes was a great white shark first chomped the legs of a seaman swimming nearby, opening wounds that would require more than 50 stitches; as it turned out, he got off easy. Quickly grabbing first Boswell's right leg and then her left, the shark pulled her under, shaking her violently like a dog with a rag doll. When the fish resurfaced, two of Boswell's colleagues in a skiff grabbed her arms while another beat the shark with a stick. Boswell felt her left leg pop. "I thought it was my hip dislocating," she said. Only when the crew pulled her up into the boat did she look down and realize that her leg now ended at midthigh. The shark then headed for another person dangling in the water from a ladder, but shots fired by crewmen on the ship evidently drove it away. sharkbait Site Admin Posts: 1376 Joined: Tue Mar 01, 2005 4:04 pm |
