Wow, I haven't seen this before despite its age, but this is one hell of a demonstration that water surface tension is no joke. They skimmed along the top of the water like stones. They probably had limbs ripped off before the boat hits them.

Crazy. Wonder how fast 75-80+mph? I don't know much about speed boats but aren't there protective shells around the hull unless this model didn't have and was pushed full throttle with a gust of wind and bump sent them flying. Imagine its like hitting concrete at that speed. Speed boat landing on/near them didn't help.

Potomac River Boat Crash -- Two speedboat racers are killed when their vessel flips at 140mph in a deadly crash. James Melley, 49, and Garth Tagge, 61, were said to be traveling at speeds in excess of 140mph The two men were competing in the Potomac River Radar Run, an annual speed-boating competition The bodies of the two men were extricated from the river by the Maryland Natural Resources Police. Earlier same day they clocked 170mph.
