Re: Two Killed After Truck Loses Brakes
My thoughts exactly! About 13 years ago I would have been involved in a similar accident but thanks to the truck driver taking the risk of dying in the process he drove over the middle of the metal guard rail and a very steep and deep road embankment, he was able to avoid hitting the more than 20 cars behind me and thus saved dozens of lives, the road had a 30-35 degree slope and the truck went down past my side at a great amount of speed, it was hauling a very heavy load, I just heard a thunderous sound behind me and when I turned my head trying to look to the rear the big truck went past my window, there is absolutely no reaction time whatsoever, it's crazy! Many drivers stepped out of their cars to check on the truck driver and thank him for risking his life to save ours. In 1984-85 A fully loaded fuel tanker came down that same sloped road, it was operated by two brothers, the brakes failed and before reaching the crossing the driver turned the wheel quick to overturn the truck but his brother failed to bail out and burned along his brother who was driving but they saved hundreds of people at that busy crossing and bus stations located there, it become an inferno that burned several businesses and buses but there were no victims thanks to the heroic action of those young men.
