Gunmen stormed a bar owned by an off-duty police officer, opening fire on patrons and killing two men. The officer returned fire with his service-issued weapon, forcing the attackers to flee.

Police reports indicate that three masked men entered the premises through a hole in the perimeter fence and opened fire on a crowd gathered near the outdoor pool table area.

Two men were fatally shot: 26-year-old Derrick S. and 41-year-old Shane F., who were both found lying near each other in the bar’s yard.

Two others, including a food vendor employed at the bar, were injured. Both were taken to Sangre Grande Hospital, where they remain in stable condition.

The officer was reportedly inside the bar when the shooting began. Upon witnessing the attack, he drew his service-issued M&P 9mm pistol and discharged 13 rounds, returning fire at the assailants. The suspects escaped into nearby bushland.

Crime Scene Investigators recovered a significant cache of shell casings, including 18 spent 5.56 rounds, commonly used in assault rifles, and 21 spent 9mm rounds.
