Two Helicopters Collide Mid-Air Leaving 10 Dead
April 22, 2024. The Malaysian Armed Forces helicopters were believed to have crashed in a mid-air collision over the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) base in Lumut this morning. The helicopters, an Agusta Westland AW139 and a Eurcopter Fennec, had collided during a mid-air manoeuvre. It is understood that both helicopters were undergoing formation training in conjunction with the Fleet Open Day scheduled to take place from May 3-5. A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said based on initial information, there were no survivors. "There were 10 crew members in total. Based on preliminary information, there were no survivors. "Firefighters are in the process of extracting the victims," a spokesperson told the New Straits Times. |
