My guess it was rotor wash. Wake turbulence doesn't just happen with airplanes. There is no real world exercise where they would need to deploy in such a tight formation. Pilot error with one of them flying too close.

Sure, you can blame the pilots, but don't pedal any misinformation - the military has to take collective responsibility. They allowed the pilots to fly. Lets see what the accident report says but I suspect accidents like this are cyclic, they go up and down.
